Should I Repair Or Replace My uPVC Windows?

If you have discovered a fault with your uPVC windows, then there is a good chance that you are going to want to make sure that you find the right way to fix it.

The two choices that are open to you are to repair your uPVC windows or to replace them. Which one is the right choice for you? Here are some of the key things to consider.

Why Should I Repair Them?

Repairs are a great choice for your double-glazed windows if you are concerned about money. This is because window repairs can be cheaper than having them replaced.

Some people worry that if they organise for their windows to be repaired, then the faults that are already an issue can happen again, and quicker than before. However, this doesn’t have to be the case.

More often than not, when you repair your uPVC windows, you can replace the areas of the unit that are faulty (usually the seal). This means that you are fixing the broken part, just as you would if you had new windows installed, but you are keeping, and utilising, the parts of the window that are working just as they should.

Why Should I Replace Them?

Even though it costs more, there are times when you may find that it is better to replace your entire uPVC windows rather than just repair them.

This will often be the case if you find that many of the windows have the same fault. Or if you feel that the issues that the windows have are going to be too hard or costly to fix. Some people may also decide to have their windows replaced when they are buying a new property. They will want to start afresh, knowing that the windows that they have chosen are brand new and that any faults may not happen for some time.

It is worth noting that window replacements can be expensive, often costing somewhere in the region of £4500. If budget is not a concern to you, then this may not be an issue and this is something that you can organise to have completed.

What Do I Do Next?

Whether you want your windows repaired or replaced, we recommend that you get in touch with us. We are experts in all things to do with uPVC windows and we can make sure that your windows are going to be properly fixed and ready to stand the test of time.

All you need to do is contact us and we will do the rest for you. We will come out to your property and, if needed, identify the issue with the windows and let you know what we can do to help you.

We will provide you with a quote for the work to be carried out, as well as an estimation of how long it will take for it to be fixed.

You can then have peace of mind that not only are your windows going to look their best, but that they are going to continue to do so for some time too.

Can You Just Replace The Double-Glazed Unit Glass?

As experts in uPVC windows, we know that from time to time the glass within your units can develop faults. More often than not these faults are just part of the usual wear and tear of double glazing and are something that you cannot stop happening.

Despite this, if you do notice that there is an issue within your double-glazed unit then you will need to ensure that this is fixed and looking as good as new.

You may think that the only way that this can happen is to have the entire double-glazed unit replaced. Which can be expensive. However, this is not the case.

If you want to have your windows look as good as new, without a huge price tag, then you could always just arrange for the glass to be replaced instead.

Is There A Limit On The Type Of Units That Can Have The Glass Replaced?

As uPVC experts, we often get asked if there is a limit on the types of windows that can have their glass replaced. However, we are proud to say that we can work on a variety of different types of windows and still provide you with the same great service every time.

We work with Energy Efficient Glass, also known as Low E Glass. This is a type of glass that is designed to reflect the outdoor heat from the sun outside, great for when it is hot and you want to stay cool, as well as then keeping the hot air inside, which keeps you warmer in the winter.

Another type of glass replacement that we can offer is Georgian Bar or Leaded Glass. These decorative glass types can be trickier to work with, but we have experience in both internal Georgian bars and external lead designs too.

We can also install toughened glass and laminated glass, which is a legal requirement in certain locations within your property.

How Much Is It Likely To Cost Me?

Of course, you won’t know how much your double-glazing glass replacement is going to cost until you speak to us directly. This is because there will be several factors that need to be taken into account to give you a quotation on the work.

The good news is that the process of having your window glass replaced is relatively quick and easy. Depending on the type of glass that you want to have installed in your property, more often than not we can have this installed and ready to go in as little as 14 days.

If you want to know more about our service, want to find out about how long it will take to have your glass replaced or simply want to know what signs there are that your glass is faulty, then get in touch with us today.
